This song, to me, embodies cloud’s whole character arc. This is truly his theme. From the hopeful beginnings of him joining Shinra, him being able to work with sephiroth and be with tifa, sephiroth burning nibelhiem, cloud killing him, getting his memories all messed up, to him finally returning to his true self. One of the best songs in ff, nay, video game history.

One thing you dont mention in the last section is that despite seeing himself as a pathetic failure, Cloud DID kill Sephiroth at the reactor. Which is ironic because despite all the false memories about being a SOLDIER, he did not remember how the showdown with Sephiroth actually went down, which was the one thing he actually did right in all of this. And it kinda conveys the message that feeling ashamed and lying about yourself can make you forget the great things you actually accomplish.

Speaking of feeling inferior to sephiroth throughout the game, when I 1st played, after getting to lvl 50 and being able to do a couple thousand dmg per hit, I distinctly remember telling myself “yes, I’m finally as strong as sephiroth was” 😂😂

I started getting into Final Fantasy when I was in high school. Final Fantasy VII was my introduction into the franchise so it holds a very, very special place in my heart. I'm 38 now and I cannot believe I only just now stumbled across this channel. This music is so stunningly beautiful and emotional and I am absolutely in love with it. +1 subs. 🐰💜🐰💜🐰💜

I will never love a video game more than I love FF 8, as a lonely kid with no friends and abusive parents, I resonated with Squall so much, I fell in love with everything about it, I still remember being a young high school kid, balling my eyes out when I finally finished 8 and realised I was saying goodbye to what felt like the only real friends I had ever made in my life, even now at 34 watching something on 8 gives me a lump in my throat.

While this beautiful theme is most typically remembered as the overworld theme of FF7, it struck me as Cloud's theme instead. i will never forget the moments when this theme played during the crucial parts of Cloud's story. Even after so many years of listening to this theme for so many time, it still sends a wave of emotions everytime i listen to it

The first time I realized that if Tifa is the only member of your party standing when Rude is the only Turk left, he'll just walk away and end the battle, I squealed like a deranged hog. I don't play many games, but I've been disappointed that none of the games I've played since then have had such wonderful gameplay and story integration.

hearing this music makes me so melancholic. i was playing this on Nintendo Switch right around the time when my daughter passed away in the womb at 19 weeks. this takes me back to that time before. when life was still normal. I'm glad for the parts you highlighted well about FF11, but its a shame you never experienced the full complete story that came together with the expansions. By the end, it was one of the best story wise in the series for me.

It was 1997. I had just started high school, a time when everything felt new — a new chapter in life. I was learning to play the guitar. I spent my school break at our house in the countryside, playing Final Fantasy VII with my younger brother. I had just bought my first PlayStation, and we played that game for over a month. If there were a background music track to represent that period of my life, it would be this one.
