I was studying listening to this but at 0:17:17 I sneaked in the kitchen to get some rations without getting in alert mode. It was a muscular memory haha. Sorry for my bad english, its not my native language

MGS got me into gaming in 2015. I bought a used PS3 to help with bordom in college, and played through the whole series in a month for the first time. MGS3 is the first game to make me cry. At 22yo, i had understood why people loved gaming. I've been a gamer ever since.

Liquid doesn’t want to honour his fathers memory, he just wants to prove that he is better, by accomplishing what Big Boss couldn’t. Soldius is the same, only Solid Snake ends up being the only clone that finds his own dream and purpose to fight and live for. Solid Snake is better than Big Boss and all his sons, despite what his genes state he should be.

Another banger of a video. I know you probably didn't want to spend too much time on that section, but one cool thing about The End you could have mentioned is that you can actually hold him up (When Snake sneaks up and says "Freeze"). This lets you shake him down and make him drop his unique camo for you to use. He's the only boss I can remember where this is possible.

Metal Gear is one of the greatest proofs that when it comes to storytelling, absolute cheese and deep, earnest, substantial storytelling are not mutually exclusive.

The Fear is either one of the most disappointing bosses in the game if you kill him lethally, or one of the best in the series if you kill him non-lethally.

My absolute favorite MGS. I cried like a baby at the end. I’ve been so hyped for this.

I first played MGS and beat it when I was about only 8 years old. It has had such a lasting effect on me even as a kid because it was probably the first video game to ever make me feel such raw emotion response wise.

My favourite metal gear and the only one I’ve cleared on European extreme. I love everything about it. I first played it while doing my history A levels which was about the Cold War - this is an exaggerated, very “kojima” take on it, but it was relevant enough to feel uncanny. I could never work out snake’s feelings toward The Boss. Was he in love with her? Was it a maternal relationship? I can feel genuine sadness and disappointment when encountering the ghost of her lover; and the final shot to put her down felt more like an ending to what could have been than what was. Incredible work as always son. You make us all proud.

Been waiting for this ever since you teased it well over a year ago. As many as I've watched about this exact subject, you always do them better. The detail and research you do are unparalleled. You are one of the best doing it.

It would be funny if there was a fourth-child born in the Les Enfant Terrible project; but he was snuck-out and grew up to be a Walgreens manager.

I don't know how many times I have came back to this old video. The nostalgic feeling it stirs within me is hard to explain. The way you describe each piece of Kojima's work leading up to MGS itself is just an utter masterpiece. You should be proud of this one.

This soundtrack brings me back... *le sigh* so many memories of so many playthroughs. Some of which were quick, some were slow, some I did only to screw around... nevertheless... beautiful... *wipes manly tears off*

I still remember waiting in line late to get my pre-order day 1 from EB Games. I ran home faster than Charlie with the golden ticket as soon as it was in my hands.

I played the entire metal gear series in release order (including the 2D ones) and witnessing Kojima's character arc from having 9 keycard items, to still 9 but with them getting combined after each 3, to finally just having one item that upgrades brought a tear to my eye

After 20 years since playing this game... This thing still hits hard emotionally.. You will hear a chord... you will have a memory in game.. then memory out of game then the emotions come... The only happy track in this whole soundtrack is the music to the First HALO Jump sequence for the Virtuous Mission after that Kojima Productions just blended your heart!
