Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep - Dismiss
Memories:
-
When I played Chain of Memories as a kid I was pretty convinced that it would be "non-canon" in a sense, and Sora losing his memories of the game at the end basically confirmed that for me. I fully expected to start KH2 in that field again, with CoM "happening", but forgotten and never mentioned again, which I was pretty sad about. Starting up KH2 and seeing the castle and Marluxia in the opening was one of my most exciting childhood memories. Felt like I was in on a secret club because I knew what was going on and that it actually mattered!

It's insane how the violin at 0:40 cuts so cleanly through all the game noise every time and makes you take notice. Goosebumps.

I literally started crying during the soundtrack part. There is something extremely therapeutic about the music in this game. Its tone and the impact it had on you during the scene these songs played in are always a remind that, no matter the chaos you may be surrounded by, everything will be alright. Even in the most heartbreaking and stressful moments, there is this unfaltering sense of perseverance and comfort one may find in that sentiment. Just truly brilliant

Kingdom Hearts 2 is a masterpiece. I've played it probably 90 times through and that ending STILL makes me get goosebumps and teary eyed.

When Terra visit's Cinderella's world and the Tears of Light theme plays, the scene was a real tear jerker for me.

I personally love this game and the franchise as a whole. For someone who plays this game once every 2 years or so, it has not aged a day for me personally. But ofc I know it has so Its pretty important to atleast mention it to new players. I think Kingdom Hearts is the only franchise I cant explain with words how much I love it, it makes feel things that no other franchise has ever done before. Truly a unique franchise in videogames. I hope you are not to hard on Chain of Memories because I think Its a decent little game.

The best memory i had of KH2 was beating the last phase of xemnas with a friend. We were taking turns trying to beat him but we both sucked ass at mashing the triangle on the laser barrage xemnas did, but we somehow did it after mashing triangle together with our little kiddy fingers. Both of us couldn't care what the ending was, we were so hyped that we finally beat him together

On another note for the music,at least original to the games, there's a sense of nostalgia even if you haven't heard them before. It take you back to simpler time which you can't go back to which may explain the happy yet sad feelings you get as mentioned

I like this. This just feels like someone who actually played kingdom hearts and payed attention, thorwing all the BS aside and just looking at KH as any average game series and giving it the, what I would say as minimal, effort to actually pay attention to it. Not coming up excuses at to why its too goofy to take even look at or too convoluted to pay attention too. Just seems like someone who grew up playing games, understands how games were made then, and enjoys experimentation in games enough to get through something like kingdom hearts. You honestly take me back to an era of gaming I miss so much. tldr, wonderful video dude.

Helloo! ^_^ I'm 25 too. Born in 1990 too. I came a little late to the game, though. I've mostly known KH by the manga, and then I've started playing this summer. And guess what? I'm listening to this while working on some upgrades to my Ventus cosplay!

What's this, a half-hour high-quality dive into what's special about the first game in my favorite franchise, told with enourmous amounts of heart? Insta-sub'd! 4.67k subs now, but if you keep up this quality, I can easily see you going up quick!

I still remember the sheer dread I felt striking that final blow to Master Xehanort as Terra, only for him to say "Only now...have I truly won...!"

Anyone listening to this three years later? It still sounds absolutely beautiful and magical.

Kh soundtrack is like no other. When I heard dearly beloved ( kh 1 and 2 version) I got goosebumps and still listen to the soundtrack to this day. It benefited the game greatly and I think if it didn’t have such a amazing soundtrack, that it wouldn’t be as great of a game. Yoko went AWF on the ost.

Honestly I agree. It’s not really confusing. There is just a LOT to remember. Plus, a lot of it deeply revolves around concepts that are very foreign to our modern real world understanding.

Kingdom Hearts brings a couple of memories for me the big one though is trying to teach people how to play it at my very first local game store went by the name of eagle computech they used to have a weekly membership or you could just play for $5 for an hour of video game time but I got the store owner to implement a different rule for Kingdom Hearts you get 90 minutes considering it takes an hour to get through the opening movie song and tutorial

Seeing (and helping) Sora and Riku block a literal onslaught of attacks while always defending the other's back (at the end of KH2) will never not give me chills. Till the day I die

Man I remember when I was a kid, when I finally got past that first phase of Kurt Zisa and the head started attacking, then the other phase starts with new attacks and gimmicks. Filled me with a certain satisfaction I can't get from a lot of games. Kingdom Hearts has a special place in my heart.
