I love this. I never knew what Pikmin was as a child (i was a Playstation/only handheld Nintendo kid) except that it was in Super Smash Bros. 😂😂😂 i was always intrigued by Pikmin and wanted to play it and now as an adult it's one of my favorites!! I do still need to play 1 & 2 so i can call myself a "real" Pikmin fan, but so far Pikmin 4 is my favorite simply because Oatchi the Pikmin magnet who prevents 50 Pikmin getting crushes at once, and the fact that i dont have to constantly swap between characters to avoid death. Pikmin 3 was way too short, but i still really enjoyed it and look forward to Pikmin 5 in 2045.

i really appreciate that you do these challenges without pikmin dying. as a kid i'd always watch my brother play because i was too scared to play myself, losing pikmin made me too sad. thank you for keeping them safe, it makes my inner child very happy(:

"... the proper dandori" was the first hint that this was, in fact, made in 2023 and not 6 years ago. That's how timeless this series is

I remember spending hours in the Piklopedia from Pikmin 2 as a kid, partially reading the science of everything, partially trying to wake up Empress Bulblax, and partially to vibe out to it's extremely chill soundtrack. So hyped to finally play Pikmin 3 next week!

As someone who has played Pikmin 1 like 30x and gotten to the point where I feel the need to be super efficient with it and optimize finding parts, this was really refreshing to see someone experience the game for the first time and try different paths/ways to succeed! I'm not as familiar with the other games (Pikmin 2 was SO much harder for me and scared me lol) but have them downloaded to play some day

I feel like there's hardly any from the classic games here. Though as someone who played Bloom for over two years, I never realized how lovely the music was. In fact, I didn't remember it ever having music.

Damn... I remember owning this game way back when it first came out, and I found it so ridiculously difficult as a kid. I wonder how easy it'd be for me, now that I'm older...?

Pikmin 2's music was the first time I actually paid attention to soundtrack in video games. I noticed that certain melodies would play when a boss attacked, and paid more attention to soundtrack ever since. It's been quite a few years, but I still pay attention to soundtrack in games.

as a designated cave-lover, i understand why some people might not like it but i WAS insanely overjoyed when i realized 4 was basically a sequel to 2 (no time limit, caves, extra upgrades, bringing back whites+purples for the first time)

Very cool! I love Pikmin... I finally came back to play it a few times in a row recently. I was really into it when it came out and went from collecting 29/30 pieces after 30 days to beating it in 11 days years later. I finally did it in 9 days with multiple attempts for a review, it’s just such a great game for replayability. It’s nice that it doesn’t take totally forever to get through.

I played Pikmin 2 so much growing up that I knew something was special about the music, but I didn’t realize it went this far! Reminds me of how the original System Shock handled its music, though most of it seems lost to time.

Bruh I cried at pikmin 3 credits when I heard the pikmin sing.

You got through the entire first game without using the swarming mechanic. Or realizing you can save drowning pikmin. Pretty commendable, ngl Edit: You finished the first half of the second game with 69 pikmin. That's awesome

The first time I played this game, I had a doomed run. I reached the final stage, on the final day... with only 16 pikmin.

Man the adaptive music was something a just took for granted when I was a kid since pikmin was one of the first games I played, but I just straight had no idea they made RANDOMIZED music. I mean come on, its so god damn well done I didn’t have a clue it was random

I feel like the Pikmin series is probably one of the most underated Nintendo series. Glad Pikmin 1 & 2 were childhood games for me.

I started playing through pikmin 1&2 a few days ago and found myself wondering why I don’t remember the pikmin 2 music as fondly or maybe at all nearly as much as I remember pikmin 1’s music as a kid, this blew my mind and explains it perfectly!

Ahh, the music makes me want to replay the first Pikmin... So iconic... And may have been the biggest stresser of my ten year old life when it came out 😅 for real. I cried if any of my Pikmin died and would restart the day. And then I bullied my father to play the game for me, while I played Pikmin General with the Nintendo Pikmin Official Guide Book. But if he lost too many Pikmin... I would make him restart the day as well lol.

The thing about notes missing when your pikmin number lowers back below 10 really blew my mind! I never noticed it outright but I remember getting this weird "empty" feeling when I lost many pikmin. It was definitely a downer, like "is it even worth it to keep going?" I love the music in Pikmin 2 even more now, I never really pay attention to it while playing because it flows so perfectly with everything happening in-game, it makes me really "feel" the music more than listen to it! It made a huge impression on me as a kid
