Still remember choosing Squirtle as my first pokemon when I was 8 years old! This music is great!

Something about Five Island's Rocket Warehouse. If i remember correctly once you returned back to the hideout , Gideon will confuse your character for Giovanni's son Silver only to retract himself saying that you don't look like him since he has red hair.

I remember going to GameStop to get copies of the games too. I can’t believe they are 20 years old. Next year they can legally drink in the US

I was born in 97. So I missed the first wave of poke mania and was too young to play Gen 2. Fr/Lg were the first games I played as a kid. I didn’t know anything so the tutorial actually made sense for someone like me. This was my Gen 1 experience. I still play these games today thru shiny hunting. Same with Ruby and Sapphire.

5his was a super good watch! Both titles were a staple for me on my gameboy growing up--or at least between my cousin and I.

When I was a kid, I thought you were going to be able to go to Johto after finishing FRLG. I still wish this was true

I was in shock when I was 10 and I saw this weird looking red dinosaur thing and kinda palmed it off in Cairns Australia. Then later I saw the red/green remakes and because of the shiny green box I had to go for it. Then maybe a year later I was walking out of curry's in the England with sapphire unaware of the journey I was about to embark on. I loved crystal but i was young. It's not until that day I was driving home with my dad just staring at the back of that sapphire box. I nearly picked torchic but I'm glad I went mudkip...because what I saw my first blaziken I was like "wtf is that!?"

I’m on a quest to play all of the Pokemon games again, at least gen 3-7. Fire red has been by far the most enjoyable so far. Maybe its nostalgia, but hell fire red held up so much better than I remember.

I love this game so much and its definitely the game that got me back into Pokemon back in the day I recently got lucky and managed to find 2 copies in a yard sale for $40! They were legit and in mint condition! Easily one of the highlights of my Summer!

I vaguely remember the day I had gotten FR, from Walmart. I remember it being in those bins that used to sit in the aisles. I remember fishing it out, and asking for it. But that was my introduction to pokemon. The timing is a little hazy, as I try to remember because I remember having the gameboy and FR for years before I even got a DS and got a GEN 4 game.

Before watching the video I played it for the first time recently. Helped me realize that adding the dark type and other things like that was really necessary. I hated that there was no physical special split (my first game was gen 4 so I’m used to it). Overall it was a fun game, but it wasn’t my favorite whatsoever

I remember getting Leaf Green game the day after Christmas years ago from my dad as a late gift. Me and my brother were instantly hooked, literally had to catch them all haha.

I was baffled when I first played FR and there was no Rhydon on Giovanni's gym leader team 😑

I remember 20 years ago I was in 7th grade and the school year just started. Fire Red and leaf Green came out. My mom went to Toys r Us to buy them for me with all the money I saved up over the summer babysitting. Weird to think these games are that old now.

Legit the Gym leader battle music had me feeling like I've got a Pokeball in my hand that I'm just ready to throw out. God the memories!

The was one of the best, middle-grounded review/retrospective of these games I've seen. Thanks, man.

I was addicted to this game the weekend after it came out. I don’t remember when my mom brought me to the store for it, but I remember being so hooked on the game.
