To this day, the moment Simon Belmont's Theme starts playing during the end phase of the final battle with Dracula, I get goosebumps. The song starts with this very ominous, haunting intro that builds up into this upbeat, triumphant number. It just fits the final battle so well (and the starting stage). It queues up the theme right when Dracula is (essentially) losing the battle and he gets desperate, and in a way the game is like "Now's your chance! Strike! Kick this guy's ass!" Few moments in gaming top that for me.

This soundtrack was LIGHTYEARS ahead of it’s time. The feelings I get when I listen to it now and the feelings I had as a child playing this incredible game back then. Indescribable.

I remember the first time i was walking towards Dracula and the candles started lighting one by one. That blew my mind and scared me a little. The atmosphere in that game was amazing. I don't think any other Castlevania managed to recapture that feeling of dread.

The original Castlevania is indeed a masterpiece. Thank you for doing an excellent job of conveying how great this game is, and how it is still a masterclass in game design.

Master piece!! Loved the whole album. Sent chills down my spine each time I listen to it. I love Bloody Tears, and yep I think it's played out, but that guitar intro chef's kiss

I basically grew up and learned English with Cinemassacre. It sparked my interest in classic horror movies and introduced me to some of my favorite video game franchises. Thank you, Mr. Rolfe ❤

Probably my favourite SNES game. Just so many good memories. That soundtrack. Oh goodness. The forest, the Dungeon, the 4th level, the library. Stunning. Great memories

That “In Memoriam” for James’ hairline at the end was really beautiful. Jokes aside - I can’t imagine how well James has aged. And I’m forever grateful for the hours upon hours of entertainment he’s given us over the years.

I kind of figured there'd be a nostalgia montage, but I was hoping it would have the Kyle Justin version of the song playing. It almost made me cry with the sad music, but if I had heard "He's gonna take you back to the past..." I would have cried for sure. Thanks, James, for all the memories. Been watching since when there was maybe only 10 episodes available to watch.

The original Castlevania will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was the first game we ever got aside from the SMB/Duck Hunt combo. Finally completing the game 15 years later remains one of my proudest NES accomplishments.

I remember when my older brother got this game in 92 when I was around 10. That opening sequence used to scare me soooo much. He would come home after his after school job around 11pm, turn this on and scary music and scenery would haunt me. Good times.
