The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Gerudo Valley
Memories:
-
This is the first time I've seen anyone walk all the way across hyrule field with no rolling.

The scene with Darunia dancing was the first time I ever understood reading. Seeing HOT HOT and understanding it, it blew my little mind.

I am a sixth grade teacher. This last school year, I had several students eat lunch in my room daily and take turns playing through OoT on Switch Online. I have played this game hundreds of times, and none have impacted me quite like this one did. I’m still crying from rewatching the video I filmed of them finally beating Ganon, all of them chanting “FINAL BLOW” and losing their shit like it’s a Marvel movie. This game has a perfect narrative about nostalgia, and I was able to share it with a whole new generation, in its original format, and have them receive it and enjoy it. It really means the world to me.

Man, Ocarina of Time speaks to me like nothing else... The nostalgia, the atmosphere – I wish more than anything that I could go back and experience it for the first time again!

Played this game for the first time (on the 3DS) recently and was blown away by how well crafted it was. I can't imagine how it must have felt to play it back when it first came out. Truly a masterpiece

OoT is the Michael Jordan of video games I don't care how video games evolve over time, this game transcends generations and will always be the GOAT

Only those who had their childhood in the 90's will understand the level of nostalgia involved in this

I don't know why, but back in the day when this was released, I was like 10 years old. And most of the things you say are hard to figure out I figured out back then. And we didn't have internet in those days. Maybe something got lost in time throughout the years, but back then it was very clear the game invites you to experiment. You got bugs in a bottle. What do I use them for? Oh look a tiny hole, maybe the bugs fit in as they like to live in the ground. Hey I was right! Awesome! You know stuff like that.

I was six years old when this game came out and I remembered watching my mom play it. It was at the time I was only interested in generic cartoons so this was honestly my first insight into fantasy and gaming. I was literally awestruck when watching my mom fight though each dungeon because when she turned on the game she was instantly the coolest person in the world! When I finally got to create my own save file I was super overwhelmed but I wanted to show her I could beat it too. OoT wasn't just my childhood but my first memorable bonding moment i had with my mom.

ATMOSPHERE I've played both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom and none of them come remotely close to Ocarina of Times atmosphere. Maybe nostalgia is a factor here, but I distinctly remember the first time entering the Forest Temple and the Spirit Temple in particular. The music man. It just SLAPS.

So many masterpieces composed by the great Koji Kondo. Every theme hits. The title theme, Inside Deku Tree, every Temple's respective track, Ocarina' Melodies, character's themes etc. But goddamn the Temple of Forest track hits me like a train. Transcends this life. Feels like I heard this many centuries ago in a different life. It's haunting, foreboding, creepy, trance-inducing, spiritual, ritualistic, speaks from the inside. Imagine being a 8 year old kid hearing this when you cross the entrance to the Temple... and then navigate the traps and puzzles of the dungeon while this music hits yours senses like a ghost chanting in your ears. Jesus fuck this track is amazing.

I was 8 when I first played this game upon its release. The young link part I struggled through but eventually after months managed to get all 3 stones. The adult link play was too much for me, Forest Temple was difficult and I got stuck at the room with the claw and couldn't seem to get any further. I continued to explore the world and gather what I could. Found the Fire Temple etc but it was only years later when a little older that I went back and slowly completed the game. Because it took up much of my later childhood I feel a real connection to this game. I'm pretty sure I had tears in my eyes when I finished it. A real sense of achievement!

Thinking Kokiri forest was the whole game, then stepping into Hyrule Field and watching the camera pan out to show the full scope of the game one of my best childhood memories and all time best gaming moment.

there is one thing the original OOT does better than the remake. that moment when you live the temple of time for the first time, and you see death mountain in the background, it sets you up for the screwed up world your about to see due to your actions. in the remake they made those clouds so much tamer...it was slightly disappointing.

36 yo, played this at age 14. Fantastic time, magical. Felt depressed when the credits rolled, and that's usually the mark of a good game for me. Bittersweet nostalgia. Can never play this game again, for the first time.

I first played ocarina of time when I was in my early 20s, a few yrs after it came out. I never played anything so profound and complicated. I would often print walk-through tips from the Internet because I couldn’t think or figure out the next step or solve the puzzles, and I was an adult! I played it again in my early 40s and still love this game. The best adventure story and ambience for any game.
