The beauty in OOT is how the story means one thing when you play it as a kid, and an entirely different thing when playing it as an adult… much like the time jump in the game itself

I really like Minish Cap. As someone who grew up with the Oracle games and still consider those my favorite games in the series, Minish Cap seemed like a really cool return to form. One thing I'm surprised you didn't take more time to talk about were the items themselves. In my opinion at least, Minish Cap has some of the most unique and interesting items in the series. The Gust Jar and Cane of Pacci being my favorites. For concepts as simple as "suck stuff towards you" and "flip stuff upside down" respectively they think of so many unique ways to use them. And some items in Minish Cap have never appeared in a Zelda game since, further adding to just how unique they are.

Im 52 years old and basically new to gaming. I got a Switch 2 and I’m staring OOT today as my first LoZ game. Thanks for the video

Like, the first game I saw and bought on a whim with my own money. Well worth it.

I remember this music! I played this game on the Wii U! But I’m really young and I haven’t played in 4 years. And now I’m 14

Tears of the Kingdom is brought down by how much I hear them say Secret Stone. Call it a Spirit Gem or something

Loops are a big thing for me. I get really annoyed if I have to backtrack through huge parts of a dungeon to get back to the room I need to get to. I remember the first Darksiders did this in the first dungeon, and I really hated that. Zelda's very good at avoiding that.

A Link to the Past at 8 is absolutely criminal. Will always be my fave and I’ve beat it 4 times throughout my life. It’s an absolute masterpiece from gameplay to art style. The perfect Zelda game

The best one I've finished years ago and one of my favorites for music more than anything. 🎮🎮🎮

I remember going into the Minish Woods when I was a kid and just standing there letting the music play. The composer for this game was really cooking.

You nailed why I love Majora's Mask. I felt compelled emotionally to save NPCs because they felt like real people. Real fears, hopes, and dreams. The game literally helped me learn how to empathize with people better. It's darker, but all the more rewarding if I can help NPCs I normally wouldn't care all that much about.

Mark Brown, you are one of the best game design content creators on the internet right now. Kudos.

I’m one of those who has enjoyed almost every game up until BOTW. Doesn’t do it for me. Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past were so mind blowing (i was a pre-teen and teenager when these came out) that they will always stand at the top of my list. A Link Between Worlds has been the only game since to earn that same special place in my heart.

One of the best Zelda themes ever and I will not hear otherwise!

TOTK could have had the best story in the franchise imo if they just... added more story events. Give us 4 more dungeons after Ganondorf powers up to portray him as more of a threat, give us more character moments with everybody aside from the memories, give us more context into the Zonai rather than just their vague existence in the actual game. There's definitely the potential there, but they just don't freaking utilize it...

I remember shoplifting this game at the mall and it became my first Zelda game I loved it. I wanted it so badly because the ad on TV got me hyped for it.

My favorite still Twilight Princess, it's the most epic Zelda story by far in my opinion. It's akin to something like the Lord of the Rings for me, a grand story about heroes who fight a great evil that is slowly taking the world for himself, and only by the acts of true good the evil is put at bay, through the collaboration of all species they can win this great war, and save their land. A story about friendship, bravery, duty, and redemption, that no other Zelda did. This truly felt like a epic legend about the adventures of a mythical hero, and that's what I love in Zelda the most. (Not to mention that the final battle is simply amazing)

A link to the past was such a groundbreaking game, a gigantic leap in storytelling compared to its predecessors. It's the first game with dual worlds, a recipe that many games copied. In my eyes, A tier.

I remember in oot when I was 8 years old I didn't have a clue what to do. didn't even know you could become adult. i got stuck at the castle for weeks bc I didn't see the ivy to climb up. time of no internet this literally took forever to finish. man these were the days. best game ever

I still think Skyward Sword has the best story. I feel like whichever game is your favorite is going to be the number one story anyway, and SS is my favorite game ever. It draws you in from beginning to end, and I felt like it had the most impactful story. Is the game perfect? No, but for what I want from a Zelda game, it's there. Give us these styles of dungeons back!

As someone that grew up with OOT, in my opinion, even though OOT is my favorite, I think wind waker and twilight princess have to be my favorites and some of the best stories. Finding Hyrule underneath the ocean, having hyrule covered in twilight and following Midna's story. For me those stick to me.

Groose is one of the best side characters in the series, straight up. The fact he never made it into Hyrule Warriors is a damn crime.
